Check the box containing your modem in the basement
If you see several unplugged ethernet cords you will need to purchase a gigabit switch along with a short ethernet cord to plug it in. You can buy these items for under $50 through retailers such as Best Buy or Amazon
To install your gigabit switch, simply plug the switch into an outlet, connect the switch to the top port in your modem using an ethernet cable, and plug the loose (non-connected) ethernet cables into the switch
