DSC Security at Sterling Ranch

Every home in Sterling Ranch comes equipped with a DSC security system to help keep you and your family safe. That means you have a working security system from the minute you move into your home!

A few things to note about your DSC Security System…

Your DSC Security System is unmonitored when you move into your home at Sterling Ranch. An unmonitored security system can alert you via phone or the STEWARD control panel—or both—if there’s a break-in or any other incident. You can then choose how to respond. An unmonitored system does cost less, however, it is also less secure.

With a monitored security system you don’t have to worry about monitoring your home’s security system yourself. Alerts are sent to a central monitoring station and if something goes wrong, someone at your monitoring center will respond and alert emergency services if needed. Monitored systems are more secure and more hands-off, though they do cost more, typically in the form of a monthly fee. If you haven’t already signed up for 24/7 security monitoring and would like to, submit a support ticket and we’ll get back to you with recommendations.

Been wondering how to change your default passcode?

When you move into your home, we recommend you change your default passcode ASAP. Your default access code can be found in the the technology documentation given to you in that blue folder at closing. If you are not able to locate your default access code, submit a support ticket. To change your master access code perform the following steps using the DSC Security Keypad installed in your home:

  1. Locate your keypad and open the front flap to expose a set of buttons
  2. Enter # repeatedly until you are on the home screen
  3. Enter *5
  4. Enter the current Master Access Code
  5. Enter 40
  6. Enter the new Master Access Code
  7. Enter #
  8. The keypad will give you a short beep to confirm

Here’s a few different settings for your security keypad:

Armed Away: This mode activates all door sensors, window sensors & motion detectors. Activate this mode on your keypad by holding the “Away” button down for 1 second.

Armed Stay: This mode activates door and window sensors only and will not activate the alarm due to motion within the home. Activate this mode on your keypad by holding the “Stay” button down for 1 second.

Disarmed: This mode de-activates all door sensors, window sensors & motion detectors. Activate this mode by entering your access code on your keypad.

Note: These settings can be found on your DSC keypad in your home (typically by the garage door) or within the Steward app under “Security”.

We hope you use this system included in your home to bring a little peace of mind to you and your family.

Best,

Spencer
